Bred by the Whitmore family in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Kidron was a dominant personality, the boss-bitch at Seppala Kennels. A very serious dog and an honest worker, Kidron helped us come to terms with the challenging trails in the Yukon bush when we first arrived. She was the dog who could get the team wherever we were going and back home, no matter what happened.
Her long coat concealed a good working physique and she threw good construction in her progeny. Kidron illustrates one extreme of the Seppala variability of type, her characteristics reverting to those of the Shearer "Foxstand" dogs and the late Wheeler stock of the 1940s and 195Os, when long coats were more common. Given her large size for a female (53 pounds) and her heavy coat she was never among our fastest sleddogs, but she was valued for her steadiness and dependability in difficult situations. The best of her progeny showed themselves capable of running with our fastest teams.

KIDRON added an important element of genetic diversity to the evolving Seppala Siberian Sleddog breed and contributed significantly to the task of building the solid working sleddog mentality, steadiness and dependability of the breed. Jeffrey still misses his sidekick "Kiddles MacFiddles."
