Seppala Sleddog Culture

THE CULTURE of dog driving generally, and particularly of the authentic Seppala Siberian Sleddog sector, rarely receives much attention on major websites. We intend to fill that gap here.

UNLESS the sport of recreational dog driving is backed up by a strong cultural and ethical heritage, it will probably be doomed in these days of unbridled extremism and the public advancement of agendas such as those of extremist "animal- rights" organisations such as PETA and HSUS.

IT IS THEREFORE TIME for those of us who value the close human/animal bond we experience with our sleddogs to place before the public the aspects of our sport that we most cherish. We must counter the distortions and negative propaganda of the lunatic fringe with the truth about recreational sleddog sport.

THIS SECTION OF THE SSSD PROJECT WEBSITE will start off in a small way, but we hope it will grow into a rich and varied celebration of the joy of driving a team of happy, willing sleddogs and of living with Seppala Siberians.

Seppala Siberian Sleddog Information! The purpose of the Seppala Siberian Sleddog website is for public information and education about the rare Seppala Siberian Sleddog breed, recognised by Agriculture Canada as a new evolving breeed, under development at Seppala Kennels in Canada's Yukon Territory.
